Imo Airport Fire: The arrival section of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, also known as Imo State Airport was gutted by fire earlier this afternoon.
According to a Facebook user Owell Chukwu who confirmed the incident and shared a picture showing thick flames over what appeared to be the arrival hall of the airport.
Some few passengers were seen scampering to safety, Sahara Reporters reports.
An airport official subsequently told reporters that the fire began at about 2pm and lasted almost an hour.
“It happened at the arrival department of the airport, but Fire Service offcials arrived early enough to prevent loss of life, even though some equipment were damaged.” a source said.
